About the artist:
Adam Rosand, born and raised in Seattle, WA found his love for the arts at age nine when drawing birthday and Christmas cards for his family was better than wasting his allowance money on them. Due to his over-active imagination for story telling and character building, his mother put him into acting classes until he was twelve. At age nine, he joined the Driftwood Players and immediately fell in love with theatre when he was cast in Oliver! at The Wade James Theatre in Edmonds, WA. He dropped acting in his teen years, and his focus turned mostly toward his drawing until his early adulthood.
At age 22, Adam was invited to volunteer at KUBE 93 Haunted House in Seattle which reignited his love for theatre. Starting as an actor, he was encompassed by some of the best set builders and makeup effects artists in the haunt industry. Soon, his love for set design and detail painting would flourish. In the off season, he produced public access TV shows titled HyPLomAR, The Munx, and HipHop 101 in SCAN’s “Hotline Studio”.
After his haunted house troupe disbanded in 2003, graphic arts, murals, portraits, and caricatures kept him busy until 2004 when he picked up his first job in film with Nils Osmar’s feature Death Planet (Wonders Productions) as a makeup effects artist. His film career soon led him back into television as a set designer for Josh Hodgins’ Jackson Horn (Jh Productions).
His greatest catalyst in the arts happened while being dumped by his then-girlfriend. She dared him to go to his dream school, Cornish College of the Arts. Having only a GED to his name, he took her up on the dare! The application process was certainly tough and all odds seemed to be against him but those ten years of voluntary haunted house work was the winning ticket! In four years (plus one), Adam graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Performance Production majoring in scenic design and his minor in sound engineering.
Shortly after graduating, his mother lay to rest and his drive for the arts seemed to have deceased with her. About six months later, his friend who he once introduced to the film industry was now in a position to hire him. His love for film sparked to life once again. He has since directed many art departments and designed many productions in film / video, he has also produced graphics, and sometimes, on a rare occasion, he acts when he feels like it won’t kill him.
